Twin Cities Hospital Introduces New Orthopedic and Spine Surgery Program

NICEVILLE, FL……..Just a few months after introducing the newest patient-friendly open MRI , Twin Cities Hospital has taken another bold step toward expanding services with the opening of a new Orthopedic and Spine Surgery Program. This new Spine Program is under the expert direction of Dr. Stephen T. Enguidanos.

Dr. Enguidanos joined the hospital in November and has quickly established himself as one of the most highly trained, skilled back and spine surgeons on the Emerald Coast. Dr. Enguidanos has done extensive research and handled hundreds of difficult cases that have enabled him to specialize in the most difficult of back surgeries. From correcting natural deficiencies due to diseases like scoliosis, to fixing problems caused by trauma or accidents, to performing complete back reconstructions; Dr. Enguidanos has developed a practice based on aiding people with serious back problems. Twin Cities Hospital is proud to bring this new service to the area by investing in state-of-the-art equipment and specialized training for its nursing staff.

Dr. Enguidanos has a diverse and unique background of personal, educational and professional experiences that have prepared him for his new position as head of the Twin Cities Hospital Orthopedic and Spine Surgery Program. A native of California, Dr. Enguidanos has worked and performed medical research at some of the most prestigious orthopedic facilities in the United States.

During the mid-1980’s, Dr. Enguidanos did extensive research at the Jerry Lewis Neuromuscular Research Center in Los Angeles, after which he tested, trained and worked at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the State University of New York. He also conducted research at the University of Colorado in Denver.

Twin Cities Hospital recognized the need to bring a spinal surgeon to the area. Dr. Enguidanos has the stamina and dedication to undertake spinal reconstruction surgeries that can last up to 12 hours or more. His specialty is relieving pain in the most complex spine and back surgery cases including problems with the cervical, thoracic and lumbar positions. Dr. Enguidanos is capable of performing most types of primary and reconstructive cases at Twin Cites Hospital. He has developed a technique in which he is able to return the natural curve to spines that were once fused in unnatural positions.

"Twin Cities Hospital is proud to introduce the Orthopedic and Spine Surgery Program to the community and Dr. Enguidanos is a welcome addition to the medical staff. State-of-the-art equipment, specialized nursing care, and advanced spine surgery techniques and treatment are part of the new direction in health care, stated David Whalen, Hospital Chief Executive Officer.
